(backposting) I went to a school reunion bash thing in a club in London (not as posh as it sounds), and who should walk in behind me but Sir Paul McCartney. Well, well. Good to see some old friends, particularly Tal. /me waves.

Miri's first day at pre-school

I had to be in London today, but I arranged it so that I got the chance to take Miri to her first day at pre-school. WIth Moo, Mel and Jojo, of course. You're always a bit worried, of course, but she seemed keen, and when the time came, and they opened the door, she fair galloped inside, not waiting for any of us. We had to follow her in to get a kiss goodbye, and she had a lovely, lovely time. Her teachers said she was brilliant and very well-behaved.

I then had to head off to London, and did lots of work there, meeting Andi, a mate, for lunch, Simon, an old school-friend for a drink after work, and then Midge, a work colleague who'd brought some stuff I'd left over in the US back for me. Back home quite late, but a good day. Moo's Nan has had a fall this evening, and has had to go to hospital, but it looks like she's going to be OK.

Planning a trip

(backposting) Just a short trip - a day and a half. Gothenberg next week: should be interesting. More discussions about what I'm going to be doing in the medium term. Lots of sales stuff. And I cycled to Stambourne to catch some of Jo's swimming lesson, which was both appreciated and good for my health. And Jo had a set of vaccinations today. I took her, and she cried, 'cos it really hurt. But she was very good, poor little thing.

We've got my mum here helping looking after the girls this week as Mel's still on holiday after her wedding. Lovely to have her around, and the girls aren't behaving _too_ badly. The fact that Jo's back at pre-school, and now 5 mornings a week, is helping.

Pre-school (and sleep revisited)

Today, along with arranging someone to come round (tomorrow) to fix the washing machine, sorting out kennels for Buster for a time we were unable to manage his normal ones and talking to Rural Retreats about a place we're staying with them, we arranged for us all to look round the local pre-school.

We went around in the afternoon - me, Moo, Mel, Jo and Miri. Jo loved it. She didn't really want to go, so Mel stayed a little longer with her. She'll be starting in September, just one session a week. We liked it, and Mel - who has lots of experience - was impressed, too. The staff were friendly, but firm, the children were busy, but polite to each other and adults, and there was lots to do.

Later, I took Miriam and Buster out for a walk while Moo put Jo to bed. Moo wasn't down by the time I got back, and I took a conference call with Miriam on a sling on my front. She was a star, and it was a while before Moo gave up and came down. It took Jo another 15 minutes to go to sleep: just under an hour and a half. This is a _bad_ precedent. And I'm away tomorrow night: I hope it's better for Moo.
