Something from Moo

For Moo, much of the woman debate is about preservation of male power and hierarchy (don't forget that "hierarchy" is government by priests...). And I don't disagree. She read this after a long discussion over supper, and so I thought I'd post it: Face to faith from last Saturday, by Rabbi Elizabeth Tikvah Sarah. It's worth a read:
"Is Anglicanism a form of progressive Christianity - and if so, what are its progressive credentials?"

hmm not if you read the church times this week and listen to GAFCON!

having read the entire article carefully now I believe that they have reached the nub of the matter here:
" because the problem is less the unequal treatment of females, and more the persistence of male power."

interestingly the New York Times ran an article on the glass ceiling within religious institutions... it begins:

"WOMEN in the church refer to it as ''the stained-glass ceiling.'' They are gaining acceptance as pastors, priests and spiritual leaders in many denominations, but women in religion cope with career barriers remarkably similar to those of their sisters in corporate America"

you can find the wole article here
